How Laser Therapy Works

Laser Therapy utilizes cutting-edge technology to deliver precise light energy deep into affected tissues. This non-invasive treatment stimulates cell repair, enhances blood circulation, and reduces inflammation, expediting the healing process.

An Impact clinician will determine the treatment area(s).

Our medical laser sends specific red and near infrared wavelengths of laser light to the treatment area to increase circulation.

Healing is activated to reduce inflammation, swelling, and pain.

The Science of Laser Therapy

Laser light in the red and near-infrared spectrum has biostimulatory properties, meaning that it can reduce inflammation, provide analgesia, and most importantly, enhance repair / remodeling / regeneration of tissue. Wavelengths between 600nm and 1100nm are used in laser therapy. The shorter red wavelengths are absorbed more superficially and therefore do not have the ability to penetrate as readily as the longer near-infrared wavelengths. Wavelengths in the visible red range (650nm) are highly absorbed by melanin and other superficial receptors and can enhance wound healing. They may also stimulate trigger points, acupuncture points, and/or cause release of secondary messengers that may improve other deep-seated conditions.

There is little to no sensation during treatment. Occasionally, the patient may feel mild warmth or tingling sensations and treatment areas may briefly feel sensitive before pain relief.

Results will vary for each person and their condition being treated. Some have reported feeling improvements after their first treatment. Some results for more acute pain may need only three to four sessions, while neuropathy and more chronic conditions may require more.
